Twenty Years in the Trade, Two Countries, One Standard
Louis qualified as a Red Seal plumber in South Africa and spent more than a decade running residential and commercial jobs there before relocating to New Zealand in 2019.
Rather than lean on the qualification he already had, he re-qualified under NZ standards from the ground up - certified plumber, certified drainlayer, and registered gas fitter under PGDB.
That's the short version. The reason it matters: full NZ certification across all three trades takes years, and most plumbers stop at one. Louis went through it because he wanted to be the one who handled the whole job - the plumbing, the drainage, the gas - instead of booking in a second tradie every time the work crossed a discipline.
He's known on jobs for practical, "think outside the box" diagnostic work. The customers who keep calling back are the ones with the awkward problems - the persistent bathroom smell no one else could trace, the high water bill with no visible leak, the cylinder install that needed pipework routed through a tricky part of an older house. Specialist filtration work is a particular focus.
